Symetrical timber framed homestead with east and west facing verandahs with outbuildings. The house is believed to have been built about 1840 for Captain William Sheaffe. There is some contention that all or part of the original house was burnt down and rebuilt about 1880.
The land was granted to Joseph Harris in 1832 who sold it in 1839 to William Sheaffe. The Harris family re-purchased the land in 1877 and the family remained in possession until 1955. Thereafter, the poroperty was operated by Douglas and Stanley Haug until purchased by Wollongnong City Council in October 1991. Council announced its intention to sell the house and 42.5 hectares in May 2023..
The house and outbuildings are in poor codition.
The area surrounding 'Stream Hill' was gazetted on 5 May 2023 as a surburb named after the property - Stream Hill.
