LANCE, Walter 1860-1929
Walter Lance established Water Lance and Co a clothing emporium in Crown St Wollongong in 1889. The business and premises were sold to David Jones Ltd and the shop closed in 1960. The building and the adjoining Commercial Hotel on the south-west corner of Crown and Church Streets were demolished for the construction of a new premises for David Jones.
